HOW WE WORK
We’re a hybrid workforce
We have offices in Toronto, Canada and London, UK and our team works hard to maintain a close-knit culture despite the physical distance. With flexible hours and the choice to work from home, the office, or sometimes even abroad, employees can create a workday that fits into their lives, not the other way around.
We use tools like Slack to keep us all connected, and we have weekly All-Hands Meetings to ensure everyone is on the same page no matter where they are. We even host a mix of in-person and virtual events so no one misses out.

Winter office closures & summer hours

We like to celebrate, which means giving the team extra time off to do so! Our offices close for a week over the winter holidays to ensure everyone is able to disconnect and spend time with family and friends. Our Summer Hours are also super popular - we have half-day Fridays and extra-long weekends to ensure we have that time to soak up the sun over the weekend. These days off don’t count against vacation or personal days, so everyone wins!

Flexible & hybrid work

ThinkData operates in a flexible, hybrid working environment which means employees have a lot of choice when deciding where and when they're most comfortable and productive. Depending on your role, you can work from your home, or come into the office - whatever works for you and your team! If you come into the office, we’ll even help you get there with a monthly Uber allowance for commuting. Prefer to work from home? When you join, we’ll ship you your MacBook and any additional equipment your role requires, and we have a WFH fund to help cover some other home office essentials you may need or want to make your workspace comfortable and productive. Our core working hours are 10 am to 4 pm, so whether you’re an early bird or you prefer to sleep until there’s actually light outside, we’re flexible!

Health benefits

Our top-tier health benefits package kicks in on your first day (we waive the typical 3-month probationary waiting period!), and it covers premium medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families. Our plan reimburses most eligible benefits expenses at 100% up to the annual maximum, which is $500 in most paramedical categories. To ensure that our benefits plan is flexible for different needs, we have an additional $500 Health Spending Account (HSA) that gets replenished every year.

Paid parental leave

Our top-up program ensures that new parents can take the time off of work they need while minimizing the financial impact of a leave. And we believe that all parents should have paid time off to bond with a newborn and adjust to life with your little one, so all full-time permanent employees regardless of gender are eligible for 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Our plan covers 6 weeks @ topped up to 100% of salary and an additional 12 weeks @ 70%.

Our Co-op Student Program is perfect for students who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in a fast paced, scaling environment. Our co-ops are an integral part of the team, which means you work on the same projects we do, and have the opportunity to see the impact of your work.

Get a glimpse of what an Engineering co-op looks like at ThinkData Works
In the past we've had co-ops work on our Front-end, Back-end, Platform, and DevOps teams. They perform a lot of hands-on work that is highly integrated within their team, but have contributed individually in significant ways. In the past student have:
- implemented our custom metadata management features, which is now a core feature of our product offering
- completely overhauling the JSON and XML consumers in our ingest pipeline to improve performance and accuracy
- created a responsive interface for our open data portal discovery toolset
- created our user sign on service with multi-factor authentication, which currently powers every platform feature

Discover the day-to-day of a Marketing co-op at ThinkData Works
Marketing co-ops are an essential part of our fast-growing marketing engine, and we're doing everything we can to be at the top of the heap when anybody goes looking for data solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- maintaining our various social media accounts like LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter
- website optimization for copy and user experienceassisting with the orchestration of events and webinars
- competitive analysis and research projects (that get brought to the team and executives!)
